Duties & Responsibilities :

The Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Human Resources is looking for an experienced instructional designer to elevate the soft and technical skills of the agency. The key function of this role is to work with subject matter experts and independently to develop course content in any discipline as needed.

Conduct a needs-based assessments to develop learning programs
Work with subject matter experts and research to obtain content to develop relevant case studies and exercises
Develop newly designed learning solutions with high-impact, for soft and technical skills
Independently develop customized learning solutions based on agency needs
Apply instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles for traditional classroom and digital asynchronous training
Develop training evaluation tools to measure results
Serves as a resource in the development and implementation of outreach communication.

May serve as facilitator and train staff as needed
Upon hire, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate the following:

Analyze training needs
Excellent verbal (presentation) and written capabilities
Effective marketing skill
Independent Judgment

Minimum Qualifications :   
High school diploma or GED AND Three years of experience providing educational, training or instructional services in functional area.   

Preferred Qualifications :   
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to those who meet the following:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Human Services or Journalism.
2. One (1) or more years of training facilitation and instructor experience.
3. Experience working in a HR environment in any of the functional areas.
4. Background experience with graphics, Public Relations or Communications.
5. Hold HR Certification in one or more of the following: PHR, SPHR-CP, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
6. Three or more years of experience designing instructional courses and developing course material
7. Three (3) or more years experience developing learning solutions in various formats – classroom, virtual classroom, Web-based training, blended solutions.
