Program Description:
Provides temporary, secure care and supervision to youths who are charged with crimes or who have been found guilty of crimes and are awaiting disposition of their cases by a juvenile court. Additionally, youths committed to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice are frequently held in secure detention while awaiting placement in one of DJJ's treatment programs or facilities.
Also provides education, individual guidance and counseling, medical services, recreation, and arts and crafts. Clothing, meals, and medical and emergency dental care are a part of each center's basic care program.
Directions from Atlanta:
Take I-75 North to Windy Hill Road, Exit 260. Turn left onto Windy Hill Road and continue until it dead-ends into Austell Road (you will be facing a school). Turn right onto Austell Road. At the first traffic light turn left onto County Services Parkway. Continue for approximately 1 mile. Look for a blue sign on the right that reads “State of Georgia Regional Youth Detention Center and Law Enforcement.” The blue sign marks the entrance driveway to Marietta RYDC. Turn right onto the driveway and continue to the gray building with the perimeter fencing. A parking lot is located in front of the detention center.
